When you first get the LED, it contains a small piece of plastic to stop the batteries contacting each other.
You need to unscrew the LED and remove the piece of plastic. Simply screw it back together and place the rubber sleeve over the join to stop water getting in.
The LED will turn on and off when you tighten and loosen the screw connection.
We use NATO issue water purification tablets in the Mark 1 Survival Kit. 1 Tablet will purify 1 litre of water.
If you are using water that is unclear, but sure to use a simple filter of some kind before adding the tablet. You can use the coffee filter contained in the Survival kit, squeeze the water through a bag or go the whole hog and make a charcoal water filter out of a plastic bottle, some grit and charcoal - check out the video below on how to do this. (Everyone should know how to make one of these - just use charcoal from a campfire, it takes about 5 minutes).
When you have done the first general filtration, add a tablet to the water. Stir or shake it a little and leave for 30 minutes.
All harmful bacteria will be destroyed and you are good to go. Note that you can drink misty water that has been treated in a pinch.

When using a tampon for tinder or something equally fragile and fast burning you should use the vaseline contained in the Survival Kit to extend the burn time of the flame. All you need to do is take a little of the vaseline and smear it onto the tinder - then use your firesteel to light it.
Always ensure that you have all your other fire making materials to hand and properly organised. You should have organised all of the following types of wood in advance so you can build the fire and ensure that you get through the sometimes bothersome early stages until the fire is properly established:

Believe it or not the condom is not there to make sure you are alright if you get lucky in the wilderness. Limitless EquipmentMark 1 Survival Kitsuse a strong, thicker condom than you would normally find in the drugstore so it can take a little more abuse than normal.
The condom can be used to store and carry water that has been filtered and treated. Make sure that you put the condom into another container of some kind to ensure that you dont get any holes in it.
